·

·Belmonte is a third generation Abstract Expressionist. He studied with many of the protégés of the very Greats who created that movement in the New York City. While completing his M.A. in Art with a concentration in Sculpture at New York University, Belmonte had the opportunity to develop and sustain his thinking on the pulse of the most contemporary “inventions” in Greenwich Village during the 60’s.

·While at NYU, he studying with Jason Seley (whose work at that very time, was being exhibited at New York City's Museum of Modern Art) and noted Sculptor, Martin Craig. While completing his Doctoral work at Columbia University in N.Y.C., he had a rare opportunity again, this time to study with none other than world-famous PADAVONO!It was difficult for him to concentrate on his artwork during this time as much of his energies were absorbed with his Internship with the world’s leading Anthropologist, Dr. Margaret Meade while at Columbia.Anthropological phenomena have been one of Peter’s lifetime fascinations.

·Of East Coast origin, Belmonte launched his exhibition career right in the heart of all creative energy in the USA, in Greenwich Village, NYC. He exhibited at the noted Greenwich Gallery in Greenwich Village, Sally Robbins Gallery and the Ziegfield Gallery, all in NYC.Since then he has selectively exhibited throughout the USA, when comfortable and compatible with his emotional surges. Many prominent art collectors own his work.

·In addition to his creative output, he has taught Drawing and Painting, Art Education, Philosophy of Art, Sculpture, and Aesthetic on literally every educational level, from the University Graduate level, right down to Kindergarten!

·From a creative stance, Belmonte’s foremost concern is that his work communicates, triggers thinking and "speaks" to the observer. Those messages usually deal with the political and prejudicial pitfalls of man as well as with man’s intrinsic greed and ignorance’s.His current Series, "Peace, Despair and Hope" focuses on 9/11 and the convoluted confusion that very tragedy has created among Americans searching for reasons and answers in the wrong ways and places.

·He can always be reach at his home/studio in Kansas City at Belmo1234@aol.com

·In the Art World, Peter uses his real family name, Belmonte.

** Kay Finch’s Comments about Peter

Kay Finch writes to Artist Elizabeth McDermott Wilson:

“I would like you to get in touch with Peter.  Perhaps he could give you a series of
lessons over the summer if you would be willing to have your work taken apart, and
then, with the help of a real living master, again, reassembled with a few strokes.  I
would love to see your art become superb and this is the man who can help
you to reach that zenith.”
